A Poem for my daughter living with Rett Syndrome

This is a poem in honor of my daughter, Marion, that is living with Rett Syndrome.

In Her Eyes She Speaks

Her secret is a mystery,
Unsolvable.
Somewhere in the depths of her soul
She is hiding.
Silence cries locked inside,
The key is lost to the universe.
What do you say?
N o t h i n g
I look into my grandmother's eyes,
My eyes
Her eyes
The silence is deafening.
I look deep into her eyes
I see
pain, sorrow
deeper into her eyes
anger, frustration.
Still I look deeper into her eyes
happiness, joy.
There
in the depths of her soul
I find
Love.
That is where I stay.
That is where I will choose
to be.
