We have ...I really like the every other year idea! We have a fake Christmas tree right now, or artificial as some like to refer to it as :) Our first year in our house we had a real tree. My brother-in-law kept watering it, insisting that it wasn't getting enough water. After he left and the Holidays were over we discovered that he had been watering our hard wood floors and not the tree! That was kind of said b/c it left a spot on the floors of our new house but now it seems kind of funny (not at the time though!). After that, we have had fake ever since and I guess that works for us. I like not having to worry about the prickly needles with our cat and babies (since we keep having them!).
